The play was inspired by the Greek film “Kynodontas” (“Dogtooth”) by Yorgos Lanthimos. In the film, we observe a confined, single-generation family. All actions are controlled and the language manipulated by the parents wishing to protect children against the outside world. The authors of the play create the reality more familiar to the Polish spectators, who may notice some references to social and political changes of the 1990s. But above all else, the authors consider a family to be a laboratory for exploring universal phenomena of instruments of power, education, possibilities of practising utopia, freedom, as well as political and linguistic systems which reveal new meanings when they are experienced on the microcosm scale.
