The history of the plebiscite

The idea of awarding actors of the S. Żeromski Theatre came about in the early 1970s at the editorial office “Echo Dnia”; readers of the newspaper awarded the “Wild Rose” (Dzika Róża) to the best actress or actor of the season. As a result of political changes and random events, the realization of the idea of the “Wild Rose” was postponed. In 1992 it was renewed in a modified form: all local media was invited to participate in the organization of the plebiscite, and over a week the audience had the opportunity to see all the premieres of the ending season for free.

The public awards their own “Wild Rose” and the journalists their own. Season 2015/16 was the first in which „Wild Roses” were also awarded to directors of the best plays – in the opinions of the public and journalists. Until then they were distinctions.
