Mythology. i don't want to do nothing based on Jan Parandowski's Mythology by Daria Kubisiak and Weronika Krówka duo, is a proposal selected from the Irena and Tadeusz Byrski Open Call for a performance intended for teachers and learners.

The play draws inspiration from classical myths that depict the world of Greek gods and heroes in an innovative way, adapting it to the contemporary realities of teens and schoolchildren. It tells the story of students, who organise the Polish language lesson by themselves, creating the mythological tale suited for their needs.

What stands out in this performance is its' fresh approach to the classics – Parandowski's text becomes the base for a dynamic staging, full of energy and humor. With live music, modern dialogues and interactions between characters, the mythological themes takes on new, accessible meaning for young audience.The relationships between Heracles, Theseus, Orpheus, Demeter and Persephone are presented through the prism of modern youth problems, such as pressure, fears, relationships with authority figures and the search for one's own identity.

The whole concept is enriched with musical elements, including a hymn inspired by Adam Mickiewicz's ”Ode to Youth” and a humorous and ironic interpretation of myths, such as the story of Heracles's story and the battle with Lernaean Hydra. The performance not only entertains, but also engages intellectually, provoking the viewer to reflect on how mythological symbols can relate to young people experiences.

Selected performances will be presented together with a lecture prepared by our theatre educator Anna Wolszczak. For every teacher and learner there will be free programms – Theatre Magazine about the play (prepared by Luiza Buras-Sokół) and free educational materials available on our website.

Before the play it will be helpful to recall the myths of Demeter and Persephone, Ariadne and Theseus, Daedalus and Icarus, Orpheus and Eurydice, history of Heracles, myth of the creation of the world and the story of Sisyphus.

The creators of the performance are thankful Mrs. Joanna Wójcik, head of the Maria Konopnicka Elementary School No. 2 in Kielce, for making the facility's space available for the video recording, and Ms. Hanna Nosal, the school's pedagogue, for her substantive assistance.
